Contemporary home with open plan living in United Kingdom

This imposing edifice is a contemporary home located in Barnes, region in the United Kingdom. It was a project developed by Lewandowski Willcox architects. The full floor area is half-dozen hundred square meters. The project was completed in 2010. The client requested a contemporary dwelling with an open plan living area and that would allow a direct connectedness between the internal and external spaces. The house also needed to have a low-cal and airy feel.

Building the firm on such a narrow site was a challenge, specially when the architects had to respect the client's wish for a bright and low-cal filled interior. As a result, they created an introverted edifice that draws its light from higher up. They also included a series of individual internal courtyards into the design. The light circulates vertically and creates a large and bright décor starting from the peak floor down to the basement. The customer also wanted the business firm to offer him privacy so the architects use timber screens and external windows to prevent overlooking from within and exterior of the property.

The team opted for brick and bond as chief materials for the structure of the residence. They too used western red cedar cladding for the façade and managed to merely incorporate a simple pallet of material. This allowed them to create a subtle and uniform look. The firm has low roofs visible from the taller houses adjacent to the side. The interior of the firm is besides very functional and structured. The walls are white throughout the house and the overall interior design is minimalist and modern.{pics by Nick and foudn on archdaily}.
